Augmented Reality Apps and Reviews
Aurasma
This app allows you to bring pictures alive. You can link any picture with a video. This app allows students who are stuck on their homework to take a picture of it and have the teacher explain it to them or give them hints on how to do it. It can also be used in class as students walk around the room taking pictures on their mobile device and having the pictures come alive. This can be an alternate way to present lessons in an interactive way!!!!

Daqri
Darqri allows you to point your device at on of their printed pictures and watch it come to life in 4D. Students can see different elements and see how they react with each other. Also students can look inside the human body and look at the different systems separately or how they work with each other in different layers. This brings hands on learning to a new level.

AR Protractor v3
With this app you have a protractor in the palm of your hand. This AR app overlays a protractor on your camera so that you can measure angles of any object imaginable. It allows you to measure angles of things that once were impossible because they were either to large or were not completely flat. .

AR In The Classroom
AR can be used in many different ways in the classroom. The idea is to make the learning experience more life-like and interactive for the student. I can see using AR for a supplement to help them with homework questions using either Pearson BouncePages or Aurasma. Students could instantly scan the page or problems and get interactive help or hints on their homework. I could use Aurama, Geometry101, Daqri to make interactive lessons for students to do on their own in class or out of class. I could print out cards or hang them around the room and let them walk through the lesson on their own. I could also use Aurama, Geometry101 or AR Protractor to supplement lessons that I have already taught. They can use these tools for deeper understanding or as tools to actually complete or create their own homework problems.
Best App
This is a tough choice because I really enjoy the different parts of each app. Having said that, there is on app that I think would work the best for my class right now. That app is Aurasma. I tried out this app and really liked it. I took a picture of homework problems in the textbook and was able to quickly make a short instructional video to show examples or to give students hints on how to get started. As I was doing this, I thought about how cool it would be to start on your homework and be able to instantly pull up a tutorial by basically taking a picture of your homework. This is a cool app and I hope to try this out in my classroom in the near future.
