Digital Citizenship
As far as age goes I am a digital native. However looking at one of the charts I feel more like a digital Immigrant. I do not mind technology and know how to use it. I also use it in my classroom everyday. I just don't really use it in my personal life. I don't have Facebook or other social media accounts nor do I want one. I have a cell phone but I normally don't use it. I still have a home phone at my house. I feel like I am somewhere between an avoider and a minimalist in my personal life. In the classroom, I try to lean toward being closer to an enthusiastic participant. I know this sounds like an unlikely and weird combination but this is where I feel like I am at right now.
Technology does come easy to me, a lot of times I just choose not to use it. Getting my master's with a technology concentration has allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge about technology in the classroom. I am almost finished with all of my classes and I really do need to think about how I am going to keep up with technology when I am finished. I think this is why I need to work on finding places to keep up with the newest trends and latest programs and websites available. I need to work on building those connections before finishing my master's degree.

ThingLink
1) I created a unit for my students on ThingLink in another class. I used a picture of a parabola and students had to watch videos, do assignments, and answer questions along the way to complete the unit. They had a guided time on when assignments needed to be completed.
2) In my class we do not normally use the internet or share things online very often, so I do not teach digital citizenship with them. As I use more technology in my class in the future, I will remember this unit make a conscious effort to have those conversations with my class. I do think it is important to have these conversations with students and since my school is a 1-to-1 school I believe we ought to make freshman and new incoming students take a class on Digital Citizenship.
